I would recommend people to order the list on the “marker board”, cause usually the best food are listed there. Highly recommend the cold dishes. Yummy and cozy place to chill.
Little gem on a busy street. So delighted to have picked this place for dinner and it was proven to be one of my best meals in Okinawa.Traditional Okinawan food served - very reasonable price and great ambience.English menu available and staff are very friendly and helpful!I hope to visit there soon again!
Ordered the 9 dish set. Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in Naha. Costs aren’t listed on the English menus so be careful because it can pile up quickly. Overall the owners are real nice and the food is fantastic would recommend.
We showed up toward the end of the night, and the staff (owner?) was regretful to tell us that we might not get a chance to sit down and order before last call. However, he kept us updated by the minute, telling us how many people were now in front of us, and how optimistic it looked. We ended up being able to order with about 10 minutes left. Fantastic! We chose to order the 9 plate meal as well as the spare ribs. The meal was extremely satisfying. The meet fell off the ribs, and the meat was very tender. We got to try a few other Okinawa specialties (e.g. sea grapes). The portions were perfect for two people, and left us wanting more (but not hungry). This meal was a great way to quickly introduce yourself to local cuisine. The whole staff was so friendly, and was patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. I'd come back to this restaurant in a heartbeat.
Without a doubt one of the best in Japan!
Very good authentic Okinawa Izakaya. Friendly staff and good food to go along with Orion beer. Will definitely try again. Waiting times can be long at peak hours.
Little restaurant run by 4 sweet aunties with awesome “homemade” little dishes!
Great local Okinawan food. I would recommend getting the set meal with 9 dishes so you get to try a little bit of everything. One person could definitely eat the entire set if they were really hungry, bit I would recommend splitting it with another person. The food was all very good, and the staff were nice too.
Reasonable, tasty, fast!!
Nice place to have your dinner there
Authentic very delicious Okinawan food and friendly hosts
This place was our first dinner for my wife and I. The wait was long (almost an hour's wait I think) but it was worth it. This place serves awesome traditional Okinawa cuisine and the service the folks at the restaurant provided was very hospitable. I would say that the other places we visited thereafter which serves similar food pales in comparison. They have an English menu, but if I remember correctly there weren't price tags to them, but the portion they served was filling for two, and at the end my wife and I felt this place was really worth the money, so two thumbs up!
Great Traditional Okinawan Food at a fair price, with an English menu. The restaurant is tucked away on a side street and the walls are plastered with autographed photos from local celebrities. If you are looking for a local haunt with good Traditional Okinawan food this is your place.
Incredibly good Okinawan food with friendly staff and English menu. Traditional atmosphere. Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it and the last part of the wait is seated inside where you can watch locals chatting and dining. We ordered 6 dishes (pork belly in miso sauce is a must eat, it's the first thing in the English menu) and we couldn't finish them all. Paid about 5000 yen (with beer). They have an English speaking staff member and are so helpful and friendly they'll even ask you about allergies! Highly recommended.
You can taste traditional Okinawa dishes here. There are many local people choose to have a meal there. Set dinner is preferred to order, but this is too much for one person.
Delicious Okinawan food! Would go back if there's an opportunity. Long wait line but with it! Only big issue is that they allow smoking inside the restaurant.
Quaint small restaurant serving local dishes and awamori. We ordered the set meal which probably caters to tourists and includes a selection dishes such as stirred fried pork and vegetables, stewed pork belly, sea grapes, marinated seaweed with pork, miso soup with pork, beansprouts with ginger, and rice pudding with ginger syrup. Although this place seems popular with tourists, locals dined here too.
This restaurant is truly amazing. Try the teishoku sets to get a taste of their specialties: rafute, fu champloo, pig ears, peanut tofu, seaweed pickles and inamuruchi miso soup. The staff are very helpful with English and there is an English Menu! There are bar, table and tatami seats.
Super busy restaurant. Tasty menu. The owner can speak a little bit of English. 5 stars
Awesome Okinawan food made by grannies. We (2) got the set meal and a few other dishes and some snake wine and we left extremely stuffed. Highly recommend the miso ribs and the goya chanpuru
It's super busy and small. Expect a longish wait, maybe 30 to 60 minutes. Turnover is pretty quick. Owner is friendly but will try to turn away large groups. Food is very good. Service is friendly. We had lots of stuff include the 9 plate sampler, the peanut tofu, champloo, the chicken and bean sprouts.
Best to line up at least 30 minutes before opening! Great Okinawan food, must try!!!
Wowowowow. I have made many trips to Japan and thought I've tried most of the variety of dishes until I came here. There is a line to get in but I had to try my first Okinawan dinner. Very unique dishes and the owner likes to interact with people in the line. Highly recommend.
Was recommended here by a local friend as the best place in Naha to eat local Okinawa cuisine and we weren’t disappointed!! 7 of us ordered 9 plates of food and ended up each paying less than ¥1000 which was a very pleasant surprise. Our favorites were the squid ink risotto and the Okinawa pork!
Recommended restaurant to go for if you are looking to try local okinawan cuisine. They provide English menu and no problem communicating with them.
Yunangi is a personal favourite of mine. Every time I am in Naha, I have to visit. The food is as authentic as it gets. While you may have to wait a long time, it is worth it at least once. Go when they open or hope you get there at the right time when there is a turnover in customers for a shorter wait. The rafute is a highly recommended dish and getting some awamori is also good. There is an English menu that is pretty close to the Japanese menu. Don't forget to get the shima tofu and mozuku. Mozuku isn't for everyone though. Lots of choices though. The best part is that the chefs are all women. The only guy mainly handles operations.
nice atmosphere. Very tasty food for the price, money well spent. Got there at 9.30pm and still had to wait a little so can get busy. Probably the best meal I had in Okinawa so far.
Excellent food at a good price prepared by some wonderfully hospitable ladies, will return soon. Large portions for japan!
Okinawa cuisine by aunty and uncle chef. Restaurant atmosphere seems like stop the time when it was just open.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Fantastic service! The food was delicious with very generous portions. The pork belly in particular was great! still thinking about it 2 weeks later
Simply amazing! They were closing but took us in anyway (four ladies in their sixties, treated us like our mothers) and they recommended a menu for two... Cannot complaint, everything was made right that moment and it was delicious!! Recommend 100%
Honestly, the best meal I’ve had in Japan. Some of the best food I’ve had in my life. I ordered the stir fry (which doesn’t sound exciting, but had such a depth of flavor that had me consuming the entire bowl immediately without even really looking at what I was eating) and the miso soup (which again, doesn’t sound special, but the first sip hits you with flavor and makes it so that you can’t stop). I usually can only eat small portions, but I did my best to finish every last crumble to show my utmost respect to the chef.
Local food, local service and very pleasant atmosphere. Dishes were a little bit small but it's good for us to taste more kinds of local flavor anyway.Alcohol drinks recommended.
The services and dishes are great !
Awesome local food visited by lots of Japanese definitely worth trying and going back to. The Noodles is must try.
We stayed just around the corner and after seeing good reviews decided to try it. We had to wait in line for a table but was worth it! Only a picture menu in English (without prices) but we picked a random selection of dishes from it. They came out quickly and were all delicious!!! Want to go back and try the rest of the menu. Highly recommend
Impressive first meal for us in Okinawa. Do order the tofu and sea grapes. Real authentic Japanese restaurant with lots of locals showing their support. Do give it a try if you are in Naha City.
Delicious Okinawan home made food
Popular among both tourists and locals, so he prepared to wait for at least 15-30 minutes for a table. Good traditional Okinawan food. A little bit expensive. Rather small portions
Good food and good service. The English menu isn't great but the staff can communicate effectively to get the ordering done. The deep fried fish is interesting, the bone is crunchy so you can eat the whole thing. The seaweed tofu soup is quite flavorful. Cash only.
Traditional Okinawan izakaya, with great food and great service. The place is quite popular, so you should expect some waiting time.
Delicious food .many people wait for eat, good restaurant
Localized flavored, it’s good way to experience Okinawa way. Pork Rib is good
friendly and prompt service, there's server who can communicate in english. frequent by both local and tourist. yummy meal especially the braised pork belly 👍🏻😋
This Izakaya came highly recommended. It didn't fail to impress! Each dish represents authentically Okinawan cuisine. The staff here are so welcoming and they make you feel like you're having a meal at home.Great value for money and proportions were generous. Highly recommend the ribs, squid ink soba and seaweed soup. Please enjoy!
Authentic local okinawa food! Definitely coming back again
Had to queue a bit but was worth! A taste of all the Okinawa specialties. Owners were very nice and old lady spoke some english and was very friendly. Nice atmosphere also.
Since the place opens at 5.30pm... It is recommended to start lining up at 5pm! YUNANGI becomes packed full of locals who know where to go for the best, delicious local dishes. The ladies working the kitchen and floor were amazing. It was very fun to sit at the counter and watch them create wok after wok of beautiful dishes. Our favourite must be the pork belly squares, the bitter gourd, and the squid ink rice soup (not pictured).
Came here because of the rave reviews and have to say that it was disappointingly underwhelming. Was unprepared for the set of 9 small plates Per pax (seen below) which cost 3250 yen—prices were a lot higher than other establishments in the area and the portions were small. The restaurant filled up quickly at 5.40 pm and the host was nice to accommodate our party of 5 and 1 baby. It was however a little rushed as the dishes came out in rapid succession and were cleared away asap. Food was good but I probably won’t be back as I’ve had way better.
Cosy and friendly ladies. Home cooked food. Slightly salty to my liking but goes well with a beer or okinawa sake.
